Thank you all for your welcomes, I appreciate it. Hopefully we can do a few trades.
doniceage - I'll try to share a few experiences as quickly as I can.
Mickey Mantle - I'll show my age. When I was seven, eight or nine I waited outside Yankee Stadium for over two hours after a game for Mantle to come out. There was just myself and another kid. When he ended up coming out he said "Get the f*** away from me you little bast**ds". I've told this story numerous times and everyone says "he must have been drunk". First off alcoholism is no excuse, secondly, you never talk to any kid like that. I'm a NY fan but needless to say I despise Mantle.
Ray Nitschki - He threw a table over in fun when asked about the pay difference between QB's and defensive players. He said the "Pretty Boys" have it made. Also a local sportscaster with a rooster haircut ask for an interview just after Mr. Nitschki started signing. Mr. Nitschki pointed and said "You see all these people who have waited for an autograph, you can get an interview when I'm finished signing". The sportscaster said "If I don't get it now it won't make it onto the news in time". Mr. Nitschki said "It looks like it won't make it on then". Rooster boy left with his feathers between his legs. Mr. Nitschki was great, very personable.
Pete Rose - I had read that Rose was not signing Muzino bats at different shows. A few months before a scheduled show in my area (Upstate NY) I called the show promoter to see if Rose was signing Muzino bats. The promoter said it would not be a problem getting a Muzino bat signed so I went ahead and ordered the bat online. The day of the show a friend of mine picked me up and I saw he had a Starting Lineup piece of Bench and Rose that had already been signed my Bench. I told my friend that Rose was going to throw it back at him since Rose and Bench dislike each other. Mind you this was back around 1996 or so. My friend was in front of me in line and when he got up to table Rose signed the Starting Lineup piece the whole time looking at the bat I brought. I handed Rose the bat and he threw it back at me saying "I'm not signing that". The show promoter saw what transpired and came over. I told him I asked if it would there would be a problem getting the bat signed and he told me there would not. Rose ended up signing the bat when I gave him an additional $20 along with the promoter giving him an additional $30. What a jerk and a half.
Willie Mays - Tried rolling the signed baseball back to me.
Buster Douglas - Was an hour late for a signing because he was eating but he was a very nice guy.
Kristi Yamaguch - Refused to sign outside items.
Patrick Ewing - Refused to sign outside items.
Lawrence Taylor - Mr. Stogie
Thank you to all again...Rick
