    Is this legit??

    http://cgi.ebay.com/1981-82-TOPPS-LA...item2566464d37

I'm not a huge fan of basketball as it's currently played in the NBA, but I love the good old days when I was a kid, and Magic, Bird, Jordan et all played.

Since I've started a collection of vintage, graded cards, I decided to get some of the basketball cards I had as a kid, or never had.

The above seller has a perfect rating, and the cards he's offering look really nice. But to have multiple PSA 9's of Magic and Bird (the link I provided) from 1981 seems a little curious. He says he acquired a huge collection of this year's cards.

Would somebody take the time to take out a 1981 Larry Bird he was going to sell for $30, and pop in a fake/doctored card?

I want to believe this is legit, but I'm still getting acclimated to the hobby again.

    Thanks for your input, guys!

I think the card is a believable card. I think that it's very possible that the person also has Magic and Bird..... but in all likelihood I can't wrap my mind around how he has multiple of the Bird and they're all graded 9. I mean a 9 is hard to get in the first place, but to have 4 of them? Whoever he got the cards from must have known how to keep their cards and what to keep. The one thing that this person does have that is working for them is that it's not his rookie card. It's really a toss up....... I'd say if you're not comfortable with it, then don't bid....

Its probably legit. Many people list bulk quantities of cards on ebay. PSA and BGS graded cards are usually legit. It would be pretty difficult to break those encapsulated cases.

i don't know.... they were busting a lot of people at nationals this year for doing bogus graded stuff. it's not very hard to fake a psa grade according to people that went.

great question, yeah, trust your gut, he has plenty graded 9, plus several ungraded, etc... many of the cards you are looking for are counterfeited heavily, graded cards are no safer, psa grades counterfeits and so does beckett, but at least they do return some of the fakes, beckett graded cards will be safer to a small degree if you really need to buy them, i am not talking about the cheapo graded becketts, just the ones in the good cases

the PSA graded cases are easy to counterfeit, so all the scammers have them, plus just like GAI before them, GAI went out of business because they authenticated TOO many counterfeit cards, which PSA has now started to do

just in case you want to know why PSA graded cards are no good anymore, watch this video

    PSA Graded Cards, Really safer?
