Season Update is basically a continuation of Prestige. It encompasses the current basketball season to showcase players in updated uniforms if need be as well as celebrate events that happen. The base card design is an amped up version of the Prestige design. There are a couple of numbered parallel version for each base card.

There are two insert sets and both revolve around the NBA All-Star Game. All-Stars groups together the players who comprised the East and West sqauds. Rookie Challenge features players from the Rookie/Sophomore Game during ASG Weekend.

On average, expect to find four autographs or memorabilia cards. This includes the All-Stars Relics, in which none are numbered (unless like all the other ones). Autographs can be found in various sets, including directly on the base cards.

Season Update is a throwaway product. If Panini did not release it, most collectors (if not all) would not miss it. It adds nothing to the basketball lineup and it feels like an excuse to pt another product in front of the masses. While the price point is solid for this product and there are numerous "hits", it is lackluster at best. There's value in the fact you get a high yield, but the yield itself can be very Plain Jane. Collectors would be better off spending their money elsewhere than investing in this, especially since a complete base set is not in the cards. Though there are plenty of duplicates.
