Vince Carter - Your thoughts
I'd really love to know what you guys on SCF think of Vince Carter's career so far? I just want to hear your guys thoughts on him. I know he never won a Championship or any memorable awards besides a Gold Medal but I still think that when he retires he might have a chance at making to HOF. He was no doubt the most exciting player to watch while he was in his prime (Raptor - Nets days) and is by far the best dunker the NBA has ever seen .... Not to mention his 2000 Slam Dunk Contest performance which made him much more popular as a player and then became an Fan Favorite around the NBA. LMK what you guys have to say :)

I have always liked Carter. I don't think he gets the respect as a ball player that he deserves.

Thanks for the post, and Yeah I agree, I always thought people looked at him as a Villain instead of a Hero and don't give him any respect as you said.

He had some amazing dunks over his career and the 2000 dunk contest might be the greatest display of dunks in a contest ever and never matched. He was always fun to watch. As far as him maiking he HOF, he has a good chance, however he prolly won't make it the first time.

Carter was always one of my favorite players to watch. I think he has been overhyped early in his carrer and because of that he is under appriceated today. Im not too sure about the HoF for him though, he does have a shot, but when its said and done peple are going to remember his Slam Dunk Competitions and not his game, that might hurt his chances.

hes definitely a fan favorite. If the HOF were run by card collectors and fans, then hes a shoe-in to be inducted. But truth of the matter is, his accomplishments lack the criteria to win the honor. He wasnt even a consistent franchise/marquee player.

Always liked him... amazing scorer and easily the best dunker the NBA has seen in quite some time.

Like CamaroPat said, he was overrated in the early career, mainly due to his dunks. Too much expectation on him that he failed to reach those expectations.
Overall, he has pretty good career, but he was never a 1st-NBA team member. And only had 2 All-NBA team. This means that he is not that great SF/SG compare to his peers.

Carter was unbelievable!
i remember back then people compared him to MJ because they played in the same position (SG), their height is alike (6.6), and they both had awesome dunks and scoring ability..
but somehow VC 'lost' it... that's too bad IMHO...
