Kevin Durant, Washington win city battle
WASHINGTON -- Kevin Durant scored 44 points to lead Washington's Goodman League to a thrilling 135-134 victory over the Drew League from Los Angeles on Saturday night.
Locked-out NBA stars from both cities played in the game on the campus of Trinity University. The stands were packed beyond the listed 1,500 seat capacity and the crowd watched local hero Durant walk away with the game's Most Valuable Player honors.

Luke Walton to join Memphis bench
L. A. Lakers forward Luke Walton is about to land a job during the NBA lockout as a college assistant coach for the Memphis Tigers.
Walton, 31, has two years remaining on his contract with the Lakers and would remain a Memphis coach until the NBA season resumes, according to the school. Memphis coach Josh Pastner has recommended Walton join the staff, and his hiring is pending approval of the University and Tennessee State Board of Regents.

Zach Randolph home searched by police
WEST LINN, Ore. -- A man who went to the Oregon home of Memphis Grizzlies forward Zach Randolph to sell marijuana said he was beaten with a pool cue in a dispute over the price of pot.
The man, who has not been publicly identified, told sheriff's deputies at least three men assaulted him but Randolph was not among them. No arrests have been made, and authorities said none were expected on Monday.

Blake Griffin starts web internship
NEW YORK -- Stymied by the NBA lockout, Blake Griffin is going to work for Will Ferrell instead.
This week, the L. A. Clippers All-Star forward is interning at Funny Or Die, the comedy website co-founded by Ferrell and Adam McKay. Griffin arrived at the site's LA offices Tuesday to begin three days of work in video production.

Insurance issue arises for Ron Artest
Ron Artest may want to play for the British Basketball League's Cheshire Jets, but his agent said the team hasn't offered the Lakers forward any insurance, according to the Los Angeles Times.
That poses a "major problem," said David Bauman, according to the paper. "(The deal is) still on the table. But again, this insurance thing is a significant and a serious obstacle for any of the NBA players."

Deron Williams: Wrist not 100 percent
New Jersey Nets point guard Deron Williams told the Salt Lake Tribune Saturday that his surgically repaired right wrist still isn't fully healthy at this point.
"I wouldn't say 100 percent," Williams told the newspaper. "I've still got some strengthening and breaking up scar tissue. That's the process with any surgery."
