RIP Jack Layton
While politics can be even more polarizing than sports, take a moment in your thoughts today for Jack Layton, who passed away this morning at the age of 61 due to cancer. Like many Canadian politicians, Layton was a hockey fan and there's a lot of good pics of him doing public events sporting the hometown team's jersey. Here's just a few:

RIP Jack.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

I remember him being front and center at a bar during the finals of the Canada/USA Olympic Gold medal game when CTV was showing shots of people watching the game from elsewhere. Found it funny then that he happened to be right in front of that camera at the bar.
A shock nonetheless that he passed so quickly. He was a true leader to his party.

Jack Layton was not fake like most politicians. He was the genuine article when he spoke of Canada and his beliefs of where the country should go. Whether you agree with his ideas or not, you can't for a second doubt his convictions. Canada lost a good MP and a good man.

RIP Jack.
You knew he cared about Canada, and to me that came first.
Now being raised in the "mustache fad" generation in Canada, I cannot help but think about how many Canadian Men are still trapped therein.
I was able to shave mine off in 1981 for the last time, but I have countless friends that still have theirs from 1977-82-83. Do most of them look like Cops?
Yup. Do I and others tease them mercilessly? Yup. Are they caught in a fashion time warp? Yup. Are they completely out of style? Have been for years......
I have no idea what happened to some Canadian Men in the years 1977-1983, they found mustaches while cleaning under the bed and have never let them go.
I could never take Jack Layton seriously as a politician because of the cheezy stache, but I did take him seriously as a Great Canadian.
