Whatever Happened to Brian Finley
In 2007, the first round, 6th overall pick of the '99 draft fell off the face of the hockey map with very little trails leading to what had happened. For a few years I have tried to figure it out for myself and I even wrote him a letter asking him myself, to which I received no response, although he did sign my card.
A few days ago I found this great article and the mystery was finally solved, although the story was a much more sad one then I had imagined.
Brian Finley seemed to have it all, he was a big goalie 6"4 and 200lbs who posted great numbers in his junior career, which led him to being chosen 6th overall in the '99 entry draft by the Nashville Predators.....

I still have 2 of his Rookie cards here. Interest was high in 99-00 when he really hit the stage, then like you said, he fell off the face of the Earth.
Sad story. Now he's a Cop? Double sad.

I remember his stuff being hot after the draft and for a couple years after.
I think a cop is not a bad job!

I'm happy he turned out to be a police officer, at least he'll contiue to give back to the community and contribute to life in general.
Good for him.

I still have his Upper Deck Gold Reserve and Topps RCs in my Juniors binder home lol, big change from the NHL to a cop but hey, it could be worse!

I'd say that's actually a pretty happy ending to what could have been a sad story. Think of guys like Ryan Leaf or Lawrence Phillips and how their lives turned out, by comparison Finley is doing very well.
