ITG Design Discussion Thread
It has come up recently that some folks feel that a rejuvenation of designs in ITG products would greatly benefit the product. If you have suggestions and feedback for Dr. Price and his staff, please feel free to post your constructive criticisms in this area.
Staff will be monitoring this thread closely. Any posts that are deemed inappropriate by the staff will be removed. This is not the place to criticize the manufacturer or go out of your way to be negative about their products. Comments that are deemed to be trolling, hijacking, etc. will be handled accordingly.
Dr. Price takes time out of his day to share his views and opinions with us. Let's show him why the SCF Community is the best on the Internet.Last edited by RGM81; 08-31-2011 at 12:01 PM.

I am not trying to bash on ITG by any means here. I love underdogs and I think that your commitment to collectors and awesome customer service truly stand out and make ITG a top-notch company.
I just want to post a picture up:

Logos and trademarks are minimal on this card: the "Canadiens" word, a tiny Habs logo on the helmet and the NHL logo on Subban's shirt. I feel like this card might as well be made by ITG. I agree somewhat that their card design seems like it's being repeated over and over. That doesn't stop the cards from being desirable however, but what stops ITG from producing a card that has such a vibrant look?
I agree that it's quite a challenge to remove those 3 logos and trademarks despite how small they are, but as you can see on this card they are not enlarged or prominent at all. This particular card design doesn't revolve around trademarks and logos, yet it looks brilliant and doesn't look like last year's The Cup rookies.

Shortly, In my opinion ITG cards seems to look too long too similar, regardless of a series.
But this isn't a big issue, I still like most of ITG products even they were not made any changes. However, now it's time to create some new, perhaps.
Best wishes!

The creative on the Subban shows a nice clear, close-up photo, and a wonderful showcased patch.
The Creative on the rest of the card especially the right side and the bottom are markedly average at best.

ITG's products are great, and desirable.
With that said, the more that come out looking the same, the less desirable they become.

I'd love to see more bright colours, it seems that in most of their products the colours are dull and faded. To me, BTP, Decades, Superlative & Canada vs. World all look very similar.
Also Pictures are needed! To many quad jerseys have just swatches and names. The Same goes for Jumbo Swatches. And no more Mug Shots please, Hockey Players aren't in prison, I understand such subsets regarding masks this is required (I love those) But otherwise I think a full picture would be beneficial for the cards.
Just my 2 cents, hope I didn't offend anyone as that was not my intent.
EDIT: I think I should add, 10-11 H&P was a step in the right direction In my opinion.Last edited by Kipper_Backlund; 08-31-2011 at 01:58 PM. Reason: Extra info added....

I think the full frontal picture problem stems from the fact that they're not licensed and therefore can't show licensed content such as a team logo on a jersey. If they could do their own photoshoot where players are pictured without team jerseys, hats, etc. that could work, but I doubt the NHL and NHLPA would permit that.
H&P stands out because they CAN show CHL, AHL, LHJMQ, etc. logos and therefore use something other than mugshots. I agree that H&P is their flagship product and a good part of the reason is that they have much more liberty with how they can shape that product. That still doesn't excuse the repetitive design for the other products, though.

The bolded part doesn't bother me very much. For a card that has four memorabilia pieces on it, that doesn't leave much room for anything other than name, title, etc. If they want to have the pic, it has to come at the expense of something and that could be the size of the memorabilia swatch. I have often said that with cards like that, the photo isn't mandatory - it's not a hockey card of Player X, it's a hockey card of Player X's memorabilia. I'm fine with that. Same applies for the jumbo emblems and such in Ultimate Memorabilia.

Brian.
I work in the Finnish forum moderator and I decided to organize a poll. I tried to be very fair what comes about my question. Topic was not public so no one knew what the other person voted.
Question was:
Do you think that ITG:s a different cards sets repeat themselves too much for year to year, or this is excatly ITG's brand and this should not be chanced.
Opt 1 .That's enough, we need clear a chance!: 33 votes (82,5%)
Opt 2. The product is already good, no chance, period!: 7 votes (17,5%)
Finland has spoken!
Best regards
Harri

I just posted several of the designs for Canada vs. The World today. If collectors really want to see ITG improve on our designs, then I am open to suggestion.
Here is one of the designs, let's see what your likes, dislikes and suggestions would be in a constructive manner.
I have listened to collectors choose our products (1972 The Year in Hockey), I have listened to collectors choose players (Heroes and Prospects) and now I am ready to listen to collectors who truly want to assist with designs, not those who simply bash everything we do to either make their favorite brand or themselves look good.
Here is the Completely Canada - Complete Jersey of Joe Sakic
