My collection just keeps growing...
8/31/11
I purchased this Gaylord Perry cut signature/jersey relic 010/128 at the local card store today, and...

the owner gave me this Carlos Guillen jersey relic for free.

The Gaylord Perry is going in my baseball HOF signature/autograph collection, and the Carlos Guillen is going in my Detroit Tigers collection.

Thanks, I was at the local card store looking through the low-end relic box for Detroit Tigers cards to add to my collection when I saw the Gaylord Perry in the display case, and I instantly requested the Perry auto.

Very nice Perry. Very cool of the owner to throw in the Guillen too, especially with it going into the PC. That's a good thing about LCS's. The one I used to go to as a kid didn't charge sales tax and gave me free packs once on my birthday. The little personal touches like that can make all the difference between an LCS and buying something online.

Agreed, and that is why my lcs is my primary source for picking up trading cards. I am the only true Detroit fan in the area that frequents the lcs, and the owner usually has a stack of base, RC's, and inserts that he gives me for free when I make a purchase, and occasionally he has some autograph or relic cards for me.

Sounds like you have a great relationship with your dealer, glad to see that still exists in the internet age. Congrats on the pickup!

I do have a great relationship with my dealer, and it is a result of respect. One thing I have never done is insult him by asking him to take a lower price, but once I showed myself to be a regular customer he started to cut me deals at the register, and give me free cards. Sometimes I even visit the store just to talk cards.
