New here and need advice
Hello all! First, let me say that I am not a sports card collector, but through an estate liquidation I have come into a couple hundred cards that I don't know what to do with. There are football, baseball, hockey, even some cards from the 1980 Summer Olympics.
Most of the baseball cards are from 1982 and 1983.
The football cards are from 1979-1983 (mostly 82-83).
The hockey cards are from 1990.
I even have a Topps Super Sports Card Locker carrying case.
My question is what should I do with them?
Should I try to find the most valuable ones and sell them individually? If so, how do I find out value and how should I sell them?
Should I sell them as an entire lot?
Should I break them up by team/player and sell them that way?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
~J

Hey, Welcome to SCF. Thanks for Joining!
For your questions, you could list what sets you have from the various sports in the correct forum. This will allow people to ask do you have John Doe from blank team. You could check and can go from there. You should break the sets down by year and team. Some people like buying team lots of cards.

I am entering the cards into the My Inventory part of the site. It will take me some time to get them all in there, but I will get it done. I am starting with the 1982 baseball cards from Topps in team name order.
Thanks for the advice so far.

Wow! I have more cards than I thought. I am only through Detroit in the Topps Locker Box and there are already over 300 cards in the inventory. I still have the rest of the teams to go through in the box, plus all the loose baseball cards. Then I get to start on the hockey and football cards.....

Hello Jawbone, thanks for joining......we can only hope that your initial interest will turn into a full blown addiction like it is for all of us here!
I think you are doing the right thing, but adding it to your inventory. This way you can export your collection and send it to people who might be interested. This way you can ask members to look at your inventory and ask for prices for the individual cards or by the entire lot.
In addition, just to be upfront 1990-91 was not a great time for cards (the market was a bit flooded) so the hockey may not be that easy to move. Just keep that in mind......maybe only list the stars.
Either way glad to have you here and if you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.
Thanks,
Billy
