Price fixing on eBay?
I recently bid, and lost, on a card which sold for around $15. Several others ended up between $10 - $15. I figured the next one available could be had for about that same price. I was shocked to see the bidding jump from $9 to $40 in the last five minutes.
I know that shill bidding (bidding on one's own auction) is against eBay rules. I'm wondering if anyone has run into a situation where two, or more, large scale sellers have agreed to bid up the prices on each others items. For example: Seller A agrees to bump up bids on Seller B's items. In return, Seller B agrees to do the same for Seller A. This would not be shill bidding because they are not bidding on their own items.
Has anyone encountered this type of collusion?Hidden Content

i think what happened here is it was a bidding war if there were multiple bids in those last five minutes, and if it was just one bid, then the other guy had a high max bid and so did the other guy. but if the person who bid it up to $40 won it, its not shill bidding, if he bid it up and didnt win then maybe. its tough to tell
