Yes, for flat rate shipping (usps) it is $4.99, at least at my local post office.
I find it to be the best way to send my card, and keep it safe

You may want to consider penny sleeve/toploader in a bubble mailer. Almost everyone on this site uses this method to send single cards securely, and at less than half the price of a flat rate box.

If you have any questions about the card, feel free to send a pm. Right now, there is minimal interest in the cards.

    DrewDude is right.

Get some bubble mailers to send cards in. You can get them at Wal Mart, any office supply store, or buy them in bulk online (bulk you can get them for 20-25 cents each). I buy 20 packs of Scotch bubble mailers at Walmart for $10.

Put the card in a penny sleeve, pop it in a top loader, and tape the top shut. Add a layer of bubble wrap around the card to give the package more thickness/protection if you're going to have the Post Office calculate your shipping. If they take it, for delivery confirmation, the package has to at least be a half an inch thick

    My material costs:

    40 cents for the mailer
12 cents for a Ultra Pro top loader (25 for $3 purchased at lcs)
2 cents for a penny sleeve

So, about 54 cents. You can certainly do better on the mailers if you buy in bulk. You could get your cost down to 35 cents or so. But this is typically what's expected by members, as the top loader and bubble mailer protects the card. The Post Office hand collates thick envelopes in bubble mailers, whereas in envelopes, machines do it.

Now, to ship it. If you don't have a Paypal account (and you should, easiest way to pay for purchases/accept payments...most members here use it), get one.

Get yourself a scale, and weigh your package. Typically 3-4 ounces for a single card.

Log into to Paypal, then type paypal.com/shipnow

Paypal does not advertise this service, so you won't find a link. You have to physically type it in.

Select USPS as the postal carrier (you can set this as the default, which I have). Service type is first class mail 2-5 days. Select package/thick envelope as package size. Fill your address out, as well as the address of the person you're mailing to. Then, print out your label. A 3 ounce package with delivery confirmation (which is added for 19 cents. No way to remove it, but you want this anyway as proof of shipment and delivery) costs $1.75.

Cut the label out of the label you've printed, tape it to the front of the package (do this before you insert the card, much easier). I typically use packing tape, and cover the entire label. Don't worry about doing this, typically the scanners can still read the bar code. If not, they can enter the number by hand. I usually cover the bar code completely with one piece first. Then you're all set, and ready to mail.

Take the envelope to the post office, hand it to one of the people inside, or drop it in one of the package slots, and you're done.

$0.54 cents in materials (or lower)
$1.75 to mail with delivery confirmation.

$2.29 to safely mail your card, no standing in line, proof the card was mailed and delivered, and positive feedback on the forum.

Much better than spending $4.99 + materials every time.

Good luck, and welcome to the forum, Yanks!
