I'm a letter carrier for Canada Post and I can tell you three things:

    1. Customs has been holding mail longer for security checking purposes because of the anniversary of 9/11.

    2. The backlog is still not completely caught up in all areas of the country.

    3. Canada Post is now performing a restructure across the country. In this process they have to weigh the mail that comes through the delivery points. If the mail is lighter, they delete routes and make others bigger. If the mail is heavy, they add routes and create more work and better delivery times. Now if you're Canada Post, would you rather spend more or make cuts?? It has been said that To make the weight of the mail lighter, they hold mail back while the measuring is being done. Small parcels are bulkier and heavier than regular white envelopes and bills.

And for those who think price is an issue in Canada......take a look at the prices of postage in privatized markets around the world and you will see we are way cheaper. The States is losing Millions of dollars per year with their Postal Service, the losses will have to be made up somewhere.......

I don't know if I dealt with a bad trader or not. Or if it was the postal strike. But I'm still waiting on a lot of cards since like June
