Dominion Vs Cup ARP
Will the /99 Rookie Patch Auto's in Dominion that are /249 in the cup be a lot more valuable than the cup /249 Rookie Patch Auto's? Or will most of the hobby love still go to the cup? Just curious.

Without having see the live cards from Dominion yet - I'm still of the belief that the Crown Royal Silouettes /99 are going to end up being the 'top' rookie cards for the players in that group.
It's hard to say though. The Cup has a better (longer term, more well known) brand behind it. Dominion are similar in that they're also ARP.... and less than half the copies..... I don't know how they wouldn't be more valuable?? Collectors can be funny though. We'll know for sure in a few weeks.

in terms of the /249 RC's in Cup, Dominion should easily be more valued, especially for the lesser known guys who are already lowering in sale value in The Cup
with Dominion having bigger patches and being /99, i'd personally pay more for Dominion if i had the $.Last edited by jagrnyr68; 09-11-2011 at 01:32 PM.

You can't justify whether or not a print run can determine a value. It really depends on the collectors Cup of tea.
For the Silhouettes vs Ice /99 you will find that the Ice /99 sells better than the Silhouettes. They may have a hard signed auto and a prime jersey but still will fall short.
Having a bigger patch is not the determining factor. It is going to be how easily it is to pulled one versus the other, how hard is it to get a nice patch within an individual product (for instance a player in the cup can have the majority of his cards 1 to 2 colors but have a only a handful of that are amazing patches... thus making it harder to get and you may see those go for way way more), how much Dominion is going have, design of the cards, and that card's value relative to the values of the other cards within the product.
True value is seen how well both products hold up overtime, probably 6 months or so.
Right now we are comparing Dominion and The Cup as an equal product.... It can turn out that Dominion is only desired as much as UD Ultimate or it could be way better than The Cup. We are assuming it is as good as the other "on paper" but is it really? We won't know right when it launches.Last edited by Yipper; 09-11-2011 at 01:55 PM.

Upper Deck rules the roost, even if there are better looking cards on the market. That's not to say that a top rated rc from Panini won't fetch a better price than UD on the secondary market, with the crazy amount collectors are willing t pay to get one step closer to set or player completion, anything goes!

Perhaps, but it will be the Hobby that decides that!! Given that this is Panini's first full year, it is WAY to EARLY to make that declaration long term.. I hope Panini is very successful, competion in the end favors The Hobby..

Upper Deck makes some nice cards, other than that they are just plain awful as a company.
