Sorry to complain but being a hobby photographer this really kills me - with all the advances in digital photography, how is it that every single product they put except the Donruss set are player cut-outs. No actions shots at all. Donruss is the only set with action shots and the color of the cards are so awful, again done on purpose, that they are hard to look at. Of course I bought 2 boxes because they were the only boxes cheap enough.
Don't even get me started on the 90+ "RCs" in the Prestige set - arrghhhh

Agree 100% again with everything you just said. That prestige set really bugged me. I bought tons of the stuff including 2 of those retail boxes everyone was getting and am still 11 cards short of the complete set.

I wouldn't say they have run out of idea just because of this terrible product. They just came out with Gold Standard, which was pretty creative in my book. Nothing like it before...
As for on-ball autos, I think it's cool. Much rather have that than a sticker auto. And if you don't like those, you shouldn't like the sweet spot baseball autos either...

What's next 3D cards? Although if done correctly would be cool. But knowing Panini and what they have produced this year they would screw it up!!

If that break in the video is an example of a common break of this box its the worst product Ive ever seen. Manufactured patches are the bigest joke in the industry and a manufactured Logoman is an insult to anybody who has ever bought a Panini product. This has just re-affirmed my boycott of Panini, Ill stick with 03-04 through 09-10 Upper Deck and Topps products thank you.

Well basketball collectors warned us hockey collectors about Panini not being that great and based on their 1st year in the hockey card market you were right as it has been underwhelming from bad collation issues, tonnes of redemption cards, below average CS, damaged cards, rehashing designs in different products in the same year, too many parallels, not a lot of value, etc
While their highest end hockey product is coming out tomorrow and has some sick cards in it based on the previews there are also a lot of cards not worthy of being in a $350 a pack product.

Gold Standard would have been a way better product if only they wouldn't have screwed up on the autos. The rookies came out good but the others are on manufactured patches or on stickers trapped in boxes that sometimes cut off the auto. The overall design was pretty original though.
The difference between the Sweet Spot autos is that they actually look like basketball material. The Timeless Treasures are on pieces of white leather which look nothing like a basketball. I don't like either but if I had to choose between the 2 I'd choose Sweet Spot.

I thought those 3D Stars cards from last year's Upper Deck were pretty cool. Sets like those should only be released every once in a while though so they don't become just common old cards like game used cards have become. I don't know if Panini could handle an product like that, although those video cards they came out with in Totally Certified were pretty awesome.

Panini is pure garbage as a basketball card making company, it's been 2 years and they haven't done anything that has really changed my opinion of them. I am glad that I have not supported this company directly by buying their boxes and packs or indirectly (by buying their singles); I'm glad my money is not spent on developing "products" like Black Box. I do have some Panini cards in my PC through trades as lots of people only have Panini stuff now.
They made some decent cards here and there, but mostly just overpriced garbage.
