Tyler Myers Officially Re-Signed for 7 Years
Per TSN: http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=375800
Buffalo Sabres defenceman Tyler Myers agreed to terms on a seven-year, 38.5 million contract extension on Thursday.
The contract includes a $10 million signing bonus on July 1, 2012. Myers will be paid $2 million in the first year of the deal, followed by $6 million in the second year before declining annually to $3 million in the final year.
Myers, who has one year remaining on the entry-level deal he signed in 2009, won the Calder Trophy in 2010 after putting up 11 goals and 37 assists in his rookie season.
Interesting contract structure to say the least. So he is officially under contract now for the next 8 years, as this deal kicks in on 7/1/12. The numbers work well for the team and the player.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...
