Modano to retire Friday...
Modano was a Thoroughbred, a big, powerful creature with the level of raw speed that could cause a gasp in the crowd when he hit full gallop. He was a 6-3 center who could fly up ice like he was jet-propelled. Modano wasn't just a player; he was a spectacle, made unique by the fact that he had grown up in America at a time when Mike Eruzione's 1980 Olympic goal had stirred the hockey passions of a generation of young players.

Fantastic News, that frees up some money for the Red Wings to find some obscure 8th rounder languishing in Europe to come over at a RC salary and score 30 goals.
I am a Moose Jaw Canucks Fan. Modano broke our hearts for too long when he played for the PA Raiders for me to embrace him.
Yes he is a great player, but he's also an egotistical, rather unfriendly man off the ice, and not friendly to kids, so Adios and don't let the doors of the Joe hit you on the way out.

One of the most classiest player in hockey ever. Great career and great legacy.

This is going to be an unpopular post but...
