Question New to the Forum, A Few Questions

Actually Im new to collecting Football cards too.

A few days ago i was looking on eBay for football memorbilia (sp?) and I came across a lot of 200 Baltimore Ravens cards. Being I die-hard Ravens fan myself I decided to bid on them, and I won. I did some looking around and I found this forum and I have read it for a bit and registered today. After reading for a couple of days I think I want to buy a few packs but I have a few questions.

Which kind sould I get? I know there are a lot. Which brands would give me the best chance at an autographed or jersey card? I was thinking about the Topps 2005 Rookie set or the Topps 2005 regular set because they were newer. Is newer necesarily better? I also noticed that some people collect cards from a certain player. Is this reccomended for someone new to the hobby? Are there any players who would be easier to collet than others? Reccomendations?

I realize this is a lot and any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks again.

The question, is what interests you. UD has different releases. I personally like topps because I play in the low end of the pool, in other words I don't have a lot of money. Autos/Jersey cards are a really nice way to go also. I have a few and really like them. Check out ebay for some, you can pick up a few of them pretty cheaply. You can get blaster(Retail) boxes at Target, KMart and some other stores like that.

You would be correct bassist. And I must say I like that Seinfeld sig.

Thanks for all of your help guys. Since I am on a budget I think Ill go with the Topps. I let you all know if I get anything good out of my first packs.

EDIT: One more question. Can you pick up a Becketts price guide from any msgszine stand or bookstore or do you have to order them specially?

You can get them just about anywhere, Target, Barnes & Nobles and other places. I believe Wal Mart even has them. Ordering it will save money in the long run.

To answer your question about collecting single players, i would say that it is the best way to get started. I started off collecting Emmitt Smith cards because he was/is one of my favorite players. He has sooooo many cards, it was easy to get going. However, now that i am more experenced, i think that collecting a player with fewer cards that are less expensive would be better. If you like the ravens, i think that Ray Lewis would be good because he has a lot of cards and autos/game used that arent that expenisve. I am still collecting Emmitts and now i have started with some other players and its a ton of fun!!! I say go for it.
