Topps Cancels Traded & Rookies To Make Way for Series 3 Baseball

Topps announces that 2005 Topps Traded & Rookies Baseball has been canceled to make way for the ALL-NEW 2005 Topps Baseball Series 3.

Because 2006 Topps Baseball Series 1 will not release until February, Topps will offer a bigger and more thorough late season series to keep collectors busy through the holidays.

Topps Series 3, an exciting season-capper numbered T1 – T330, will cover the 2005 post season including the World Series, traded players in their new uniforms and 110 Rookie Cards featuring 20 of the top picks from the 2005 Amateur Baseball Draft.

Topps spokesman Clay Luraschi says the cards will be numbered with a "T" prefix because of the number of collectors whom already have purchased complete sets. "We made the set bigger and wanted to fill the void of not having 2006 Topps Series I in the fall, so that merited a Series 3 title," Luraschi says. "We did not consider changing the numbering as too many of our collectors have already purchased the complete set."

In the inserts department, the popular Barry Bonds Homerun History Set continues as Series 3 offers career Homeruns 331-660. Series 3 will also feature a slew of exclusive relic cards from this year's mid-summer classic.

And from the company that brought you the historic Presidential Cut Signatures Collection, Topps Baseball Series 3 will unveil one of the most fascinating signature programs ever created—The Declaration of Independence Cut Signatures. This autograph program will feature 1 of 1 cut signatures from 50 signers of the Declaration of Independence. (Stay tuned for more details on this program).

2005 Topps Baseball Series 3 releases November 7 and carries a $1.59 SRP for each 10-card pack. Check back often at Beckett.com for pre-order information coming soon.

    Interesting!!
No Traded & Rc's(Persay) but their series III release will have the (T)# designation as all the past Tr&Rc's have had. Must have something to do with the new MLBP rules.

Hmmm, very interesting! Any idea on the Chrome cards? The previous years the TT packs contained 2 Chrome cards.
Looking at the $1.59 MSRP I assume no chrome in here.

Wow that is neat... it will be interesting to see how it holds up because if I'm seeing right, it doesn't have any National Treasures autos and that's what seemed to fuel Topps cards in years (this year, last year) past.

Oh, I didn't read the whole thing. Wow then that should definitely fuel it. Hell those are fairly good chances (I mean, better then other 1/1 sets Topps has made) to pull one! Buy about 50 cases and you'll be all set! lol, that's Topps basic for you.

they didnt delay producing traded and rookies, they're gettin rid of it and changing it to series 3. So series 3 is basically the same thing as traded and rookies, right? Except for maybe no chromes. I also wanted to know if and when they would be coming out with bowman draft picks and prospects

I hope they'll release a factory set of this 'Series 3'. As someone who only collects the 'base sets' from Topps and their traded/update sets, having to get hand collated sets makes it a bit expensive and a pain in the butt.
