Does Anyone collect Autographed photos anymore?
Does Anyone collect Autographed photos anymore? I remember back in the 1980's it was big business and it seemed like more people collected autographed photos, nowadays it doesnt seem like it is talked about much or pursued by collectors as much as it use to be. a check on ebay shows that most HOF players autographed photos can eb bought pretty cheap. why such the lack of interest in autographed photos nowadays? your thoughts please. thanks

I don't know about the ebay thing, but I collect mainly photos for the ease of storage. Minis and balls are nice but I don't exactly have whole rooms devoted to displaying things.

All I collect are 11x14's now. 8x10's are not big enough for my liking and 16x20's are too expensive to frame. So that is why I collect 11x14's.

A lot of ebay's stuff is cheap because a lot of ebay stuff is fake. I do collect 8x10s from time to time.

Same exact reason plus balls, minis, other equipment add up in cost. Photos are inexpensive to print out or buy.

I like photos and cards more than baseballs and helmets since they are more personal if that makes any sense. They're more individual and it shows the actual player. Plus, finding unique pictures to get signed are great too.

thanks guys for your responses, i really appreciate it. I read somewhere before, that autographed photos tend to fade over the years, is that true?

Any autograph that is being exposed to sunlight will fade. Be careful where you are hanging your photos.

i think maybe the humidity in hawaii is not good for autograph photos perhaps?? maybe thats a contributing factor?
Check out this ebay auction(ebay item # 130584268366) THIS is EXACTLY what im worried about with autographed photos. a photo over time, the autograph fades and the photo paper quality starts to suck. check it out! your thoughts please.Last edited by Hawaiian Bam Bam; 10-09-2011 at 12:09 AM.
