Few basic Question...
Hi !
I stop to collecting hockey cards for about 10 year and now i come back for fun !
I have few basic question, if someione have a minute.
#1 What is the "real" Crosby rookie cards ? It is U-D 05-06 # 201 ? What is the Beckett value ?
#2 What is the 5 hottest player in the moment ?
#3 How many cards in U-D Ovation 2009/10 ? What is the Beckett value of the set ?
Not too difficult ? :P
Thanks !

It is against proper business practices for any of us to release a Beckett Book Value publicly.
Crosby has several 05-06 Rookie Cards in several sets. Anything that belongs to the original set, short prints inside the original sets are not deemed true Rookie cards.
The Top 5 Players is anybodies guess. Right now they top players being bought, sold and trade would be:
PK Subban
Taylor Hall
Jeff Skinner
Sid Crosby
Jordan Eberle
Tyler Seguin
Magnus Paajarvi

Hey buddy!
First off, welcome to the SCF forums and back to collecting in general! :)
I'll try to answer your questions as best as I can..
1. There are lots of "real" crosby rookie cards. Anything basically that isn't a parallel or short print version of his basic rookie cards. Make sense? For example, that card you mentioned #201 is his Young Guns rookie. It has a parallel, the "High Gloss", which is numbered to only 10. That parallel card is not a "real" rookie card, but it commands a much higher value.
2. That depends on who you ask and for what purpose. For player talent, this is my top 5:
- Steven Stamkos
- Corey Perry
- Henrik Sedin
- Jeff Skinner
- Tim Thomas
3. The main Ovation set from 09-10 has 150 cards.
Lastly, there's a rule on that we can't ask for Beckett pricing, so I unfortunately can't give you that info, but it's not very difficult to find... A lot of Ebay sales divulge a card's Beckett Value. Otherwise your best bet is to buy access to the online price guide.
Hope that helps!!

The most valuable of course would be the SSP Rookie of Upper Deck "The Cup" of Crosby Serial #1 of 1.
I'm not sure if this card has shown up anywhere on radar yet.

No problem about the rule. Can't find the ruler to snap your fingers anyways. ;)
His very FIRST rookie card I would guess was card #285 from UD Victory. Victory always is the first product out.
The most valuable is none other than his The Cup rookie. Numbered to only 99, definitely a hot commodity!
And as far as card value, popularity, etc. it's usually the top rookies who win. Centrehice's list is very accurate.
