Allen & ginter box break by a non-baseball collector = )

i havent busted any boxes for over a decade, and i just got back to collecting basketball cards 2-3 years ago but focused on buying singles (to get my money's worth).

i passed by a LCS last weekend and decided to give in to the itch and break some boxes. ive always admired the design of A&G (got a few non baseball autos from the prev years) and decided to try breaking that instead of BK (not a panini-lover, and the older UD/Topps BK products arent worth it for me)

im mainly a basketball collector, and aside from jeter, pujols, and the other main guys in the 90's yankees, i dont know anyone else in baseball lol

have to admit, it felt great opening packs and not really knowing what youre getting. reminded me of the pure joy of the hobby when i was a kid when i get excited over every card that i got out of a pack and not just for how much it sells.

here's what i got. i think its nothing great value wise, but it sure was fun and i think i beat the odds lol (got 4 hits in one box)

GU:

papelbon, beckett (both red sox "star" picthers, at least thats what the back of the card says, but topps probably calls everyone in the set "stars

)

Auto
tabata - i dont think this one even has any value, but his auto is nice (compared to the BK autos im used to )

Printing plate:

Miguel cabrera : not really sure who the guy is, and i didnt even know til now detroit has a baseball team, but wikipedia says he's some all-star.

im trying to go after the set, im still torn if i should go after the bases individually or bust a few more boxes

Cabrera is a yearly MVP candidate, Papelbon is one of the leagues best closers, Beckett the red sox ace, and Tabata is a very good young player. i'd say you did very well. if ur looking to trade for basketball, i dont have much, but i'd be willing to trade for any/all the inserts

A&G is the reason I'm back into baseball cards so hard. I love the set. A lot. I love the minis. If you want to swap some of your minis for base cards you're missing, let me know, I've got some dupes. Still haven't completed my set, so I could do base for base, too.
