EA NHL '12 Simulation: Penguins Win the Cup
http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=377442
A simulation using EA Sports' "NHL 12" video game has the Pittsburgh Penguins winning the Stanley Cup, aided by Sidney Crosby's comeback.
The made-in-Canada video game sees Crosby returning after 17 games and leading the Pens to second place in the East.
Pittsburgh defeats Chicago four games to two in the Cup final with Crosby earning the Conn Smythe Trophy.
Vancouver wins the Presidents' Trophy again, with 114 points, but loses the Western Conference final to Chicago in seven games.
The simulation is good news for Maple Leafs fans, since Toronto finishes eighth in the East to make the playoffs.
The Canadiens just miss out, placing ninth, while Winnipeg is 11th and Ottawa 14th in the East. Edmonton finishes 13th in the West, just ahead of Calgary.
The simulation sees the defending champion Bruins losing to Philadelphia in the first round in five games.
As if the Leafs make the playoffs ahead of the Habs.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

Hey, they had Vancouver v. Boston in 7 games last year. They kept the same prediction at the start of the playoffs.
They just had Vancouver winning it.

The Bruins lose to Philly, lol. I'd bet money now that never happens. The Flyes will lose in the first round, no way they dominate Boston.
These simulations can be right but I don't see this one panning out at all. There is no way this game can predict Crosby's retrun whne him, the Pens, and doctors can't.
There will be more than one surprise this year and many times these games can't predict the breakout stars in the league. Another thing I have found in the simulations is that they will change at least a little everytime.
Flyers lose in the first round, Boston makes it to the second, the Leafs miss the playoffs, Chicago doesn't make the Finals, Crosby is out till at least the 20 game mark, Vancouver doesn't win the Presidents cup again.
I would almost guarantee that this game did not have Chris Stewart, Matt D'Agostini, Kevin Shattenkirk, or Alex Pietrangelo doing as well as they did last year.
If anyone wants to bet some cards on this simulation just LMK, I would love to have whatever your willing ot put up, lolLast edited by 30ranfordfan; 10-05-2011 at 07:40 PM.

Yeesh. They're giving Pricey 37 wins for 74 points for the Habs based off the wins. I'm assuming that Carey will have a couple OTL/SO losses in that simulation that will give a handful more points. That means Budaj is going to be so bad he won't even be able to make up the last 10-12 points by winning 5 or 6 games?

That's reason enough not to buy the game. Ice is tilted in the Pens direction.
Been that way since Crosby was drafted.

I just dont play anyone online who picks the Pens. ;) For that matter I dont play anyone who picks the Rangers or the Sabres either because they are ridiculously overrated as well. Funny how many more "fans" there are of those two teams this year.

I was commenting more about the true reality of the NHL ,and how it was mirroring this EA Sports result, not the Bandwagon behaviour of the Nouveau Pens fans.
