The Official 11-12 Buffalo Sabres Discussion Thread

Saw the Wings and MTL threads, and because I know there are a bunch of other sabres fan on here decided to start it up.

    What I like so far:

    Miller- solid as always

Gragnani- will be a power play point producer

Leino & Ehrhoff- big ticket FA's add depth, skill and experience to squad

Vanek- 5 points in 5 periods.

Unless we collapse we will leave europe 2-0 beating two top teams from the West. Great start to the season and hopefully they can keeep it up!

I'll chime in early. I expect big things from the Sabres this year. I think they will definitely challenge for the NE title and be a top 5 team in the conference. This team is going in the right direction, and although its only been a couple games, I am loving what I see so far!

maybe it's me and it is only 2 games, but how can anyone think about sending Luke Adam back to Rochester? He has been a beast so far, which started at the Prospect Tourney in which he was a man amongst boys.

Keep Luke Adam on the top line with Vanek and Pominville. Not only does it rock my socks but it makes all the other lines better. Stacked lineup. Cup or bust!

They'd be better if they called up Derek Whitmore... :)

    Lol @ Eric

I only saw highlights from the first game but watched all of game 2 and I was EXTREMELY impressed. Only thing that I think needs a bit of improvement right now is staying out of the box a bit more. Vanek took a BAD interference penalty that could've hurt us against LA. We need to just stay disciplined and as long as we do that and continue playing our game I think we've got a great shot this year.

I say we, no longer as just a fan but now as an employee of the Sabres AHL Affiliate, Rochester Amerks!!! With me working down there now, I'll try to post somewhat periodically with some Amerks insight to keep things interesting :)

Yeah man! I go in for training on Monday and work my first game on Tuesday, very much looking forward to this big step in my career :)

I'll be sure to say hi for ya Eric, I just talked to him on the phone yesterday actually haha.

After watching last night's game it's painfully obvious that our special teams as a whole need a LOT of work. 2 Shorthanded goals and a powerplay goal for Carolina to win it. As I mentioned last week, if they make that correction this team is a force to be reckoned with.

Well after my first full week as an Amerks worker, here's a few notes I'd like to share.

1.)Watching a game from ice level in an arena full of crazy fans is AMAZING!

2.) The Amerks seem to have a flair for the dramatic. Reminds me a lot of those "Cardiac Kids" Sabres from 4 or 5 years ago. 3 Games this week (not counting tomorrow's game) and all 3 went to either OT or a SO.

3.) Corey Tropp has really impressed me, he's really starting to heat up and MAN he is a solid all around player! Very physical and has a great shot, I think he could crack the lineup as a call-up.

4.) What's an update without mentioning Kassian. I know I'm a tad biased but he really does continue to impress me. I can't even begin to describe how impressed I am in particular at his passing. If not for players hitting a couple posts and whiffing on a few I think he could've had at least 3 or 4 more assists this week. He also played center in a 4-on-4 situation which I found odd, and drew the penalty that gave the Amerks the game-tying goal late in the 3rd of Friday's SO loss to Hamilton (he assisted on that goal as well).

5.) Last but certainly not least...I hope DJ Pauly D's music is played in the locker room after EVERY Amerks win. Marcus Foligno's attempt at dance moves = HILARIOUS lol
