Does Anyone collect Autographed photos anymore?

Does Anyone collect Autographed photos anymore? I remember back in the 1980's it was big business and it seemed like more people collected autographed photos, nowadays it doesnt seem like it is talked about much or pursued by collectors as much as it use to be. a check on ebay shows that most HOF players autographed photos can eb bought pretty cheap. why such the lack of interest in autographed photos nowadays? your thoughts please. thanks

To be honest that is one of my favorite things to do...I obtain alot of autographs at minor league games and I get cards signed in person.If a player has a card I am usually asking the players to pose for some photos I take my personal self and then I go back the next day and get them signed..

So many of them being FAKE is the reason why people don't want them now. You basically have to have it authenticated which is going to cost a lot of money for some of them. Back then most of them were probably real now I don't think so. So many people especially on eBay are in the business of selling questionably signed items.

So basically unless it is authenticated people don't want it and that rings true with balls, bats, etc. as well.

I collect 8x10s of my hometown teams. (Getting cards signed in person is weird to me.)

Every 8x10 I have, I get signed in person myself. I get them either at shows, or things like training camp/spring training. So basically, I don't care about getting them authenticated because they're PC.

Yeah i don't know how anyone can prove they are real unless they got it in person.

thanks guys for your responses, i really appreciate it. I read somewhere before, that autographed photos tend to fade over the years, is that true?

i have autographs from 2002 signed in blue sharpie and they still look great i think it really depends how u take care of them

i think maybe the humidity in hawaii is not good for autograph photos perhaps?? maybe thats a contributing factor?

I would recommend that the photos be kept in soft-sleeve pages for 8x10s instead of toploaders.

Several of mine that were older got "stuck" in the toploaders, likely due to humidity.

what about putting them in a soft sleeve then into a top loader for photos, do you think that might work? just thinking of different options to store them so they wont get stuck after a few years. your thoughts please, thanks
