    Si ttm? Covers?

I have alot of old Sports Illustrateds and was thinking of pitching them. Then I thought just maybe I might try a few via TTM. The question is do most of you pull the middle staples from the magazine and mail just the cover and restaple when they come back signed? Do you just save the cover and pitch the magazine? Do you bite the bullet and mail the whole magazine? I have not tried mailing magazines before and was curious, if any of you had gotten into this? I know when I have sent DVDs and VHS tapes to celebrities I only sent the cover, but placed them back on the movies when they came back. Is it common to split the magazine and add the cover back later or common to mail the whole thing? I am still assuming that the entire magazine would make a better collectible than the cover, but would be harder to frame.

Ive got back close to 6 signed SI's and I find it is just less hassle and so forth to just mail the whole thing. The only exception I made was for a special edition or season preview because those tend to be heavier then a regular issue. For that one, I just took the cover off and mailed it like that.

Was literally wondering this very same thing. I'm also curious on what kind of postage it takes right now to send them out as a complete magazine.

As long as it's under 13 ounces, it will still go first class and cost in the 2-3 dollar range. I've sent quite a few out, and the ones from the 80s are the most expensive due to the excess of advertising.

Couple years back, I sent Bart Starr a Sports Illustrated from 1977; that thing was HEAVY and it wasn't more than $3.50 each way. The more modern mags are a lot lighter, so I'd imagine they can be done cheaply.
