Mark Schiefele - Hot or Not?
As we're all gearing up for the batches upon batches of the 2011 draft class rookie cards, I'm wondering what you guys think about Mark Schiefele and where he's going to fit in terms of his hobby love. With him being the first Jets draft choice and all, do you think he'll be right up there with RNH and Hodgson as the early must-have rookies for collectors? Being a rookie on a Canadian team obviously has its advantages hobby-wise, so will the type of love we saw last year for the Oilers crew and Subban cross over to Schiefele this year?
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

I'm expecting to see that the Winnipeg fans will drive his prices up..... and there may be enough of them to make him one of the 'top' guys this year. I don't see him generating top tier hobby love outside of that fan base though, not unless he becomes a Rookie of the Year favorite.

I'm sure he will get lots of hobby love if he plays as good as last year's 7th pick. ;)

I think it's fair to say he will be among the top selling rookies of the year.

I could see myself filling out a lot of customs forms with Winnipeg addresses this year.

I'm sure he'll get a lot of hobby love.
Canadian, brand new team, Jets' first pick all lead to a healthy demand. Maybe on the same scale as Jeff Skinner, I think.

I'll say at least this... he's a very skilled player from what I've seen!

The rookie to have is Gab Land from Colorado - he will win Calder, and he is a good old Kitchener boy!

Well, even though lots of factors point to him having high hobby value, his play will still dictate his overall value IMO. First, he needs to stick past the 9 games, then he needs to put up top-5 points for rookies IMO, which is very tough to do. Skinner had to put up the best rookie season since pat kane (minus guys named Sid, ovy, and geno) to get his value as high as it was, and even then he didn't rival Hall in value. If Scheifele has a 30ish point rookie year, while not being bad, it will probably limit his value to a certain range. Of course jets fans will bid him up similar to guys like Luke Adam this year, but they shouldn't get too crazy IMO.
