    What/Who to collect? Need HELP...

    Okay guys need some help/advice.

I just had another kid. This is my 3rd one. I'm kind of middle class and I don't mean upper middle class. Just middle class. Make decent money. But I definitely have to slow down on collecting. Just not sure how I should go about it.

Should I just get one good card every month or should I just shoot for lower end cards? I love on card auto's, just the fact the player touch the card means so much more, but lately I'm kinda like the sticker auto's would save me so much more. lol - Ugh torn on what to do.

I once thought about just doing patch cards cause I love a nice 3 color patch especially with breaks, but I love player auto's a little bit more I think.

My problem is I think I love the Super Hi End stuff with the on card Auto Patches. I just don't think I can afford to keep collecting them. lol - Well I could if I got one a month or so but every time I see an Exquisite Auto Patch I want it! lol

Oh what to do, What to do? Anyone else going through this problem?

Congrats on the 3rd child!! Boy or girl?

Anyhow, I have been struggling with this myself. I have a couple of things on my plate: A trip to China with the parents, Wedding, a house purchase, honey moon, and all the jazz that goes along with it, it is hard to find a middle ground to keep everyone happy.

So I decided to set a budget just for cards each month. Each month I would deposit $200 into my PayPal account/Saving account. If I see something I like that month, I would probably deplete the account (but never more). However, if I want to save up for something more, I would just build my account up for a month or two before dropping it on a nice AU.

Even though it does get hard at times, as I see some rare higher end items that you got to have. But with some self control, this system has worked out well so far.

Good luck on your adventure!! And again, congrats!!

I think you just need to trade the rose black patch auto to me. :D

I think you should just specifically target what you want from time to time. Somedays you can target a big card that might take some saving to do, and then other days you can satisfy your wants with some lower end purchases throughout the month. I find that the best thing you can do is buy mid end stuff that you think will go up so you can trade up to that one big card you want. That has been the cycle that I go through.

Tamtalizied - It's a girl, Now I have 2 Girls 1 Boy. And thanks for the advice I think that's what I may end up doing. Moving about $200 into paypal a month.

Wudeverbro - If I ever decide to trade/sell the Rose I'll let you know.

I'm actually thinking about collecting on card autos of my favorite players. No jersey/patc, keep the cost down. Still deciding.

I'm in the same boat as you, I love on card autos of players. I do think patches look nice, but I end up avoiding them most of the time since it makes the cards more expensive.

Congrats on your new baby girl! I have my second baby on the way as well, I have already cut my card spending ha ha . . .

Congrats on the addition to the family!

I have player PCs, and used to bust a lot of boxes, but lately I would rather spend that break money on a couple of nice cards for the same price. as was said earlier I give myself a paypal budget and that is used on boxes or cards or carried over to the next month. If it is gone it is gone, but I have been finding some really nice cards to a budget, so it is definitely possible to do.

Ask for a raise. (just kidding)

If you have high end taste with limited funds, I suggest saving money until you can afford a high end card rather than spending it busting boxes or settling for cards that you won't be happy with in the long run. I'd rather save money for 6 months and purchase a high end card than have several mid-end cards and not be truly happy with it.

Whalechaser - Thanks congrats on your 2nd!

ratsdm - Yeah I don't open boxes, I PC Lakers, Rose, Blake, Durant, Kobe - These guys are expensive to collect. Also thinking about doing my top 25. But If Peyton Siva ever makes the NBA I will try and PC him since he's Samoan like me!

tarheelsnipe - A raise would be nice! lol

jmarsili - Yeah I think I'm only going to save up and collect what I like. I just always have this itch to buy stuff! lol - hard when cards aren't popping up as much with the lockout.

coolz - Yeah only sticking to on card. But when it comes to Lakers/Multi auto's I don't care as much. lol

Thanks for the help guys. I think that's what I'm gonna do. Just hold off and buy the awesome stuff that makes me happy!!! It's just hard with this itch I have to spend my paypal! lol
