Brayden Schenn called up; Rinaldo, Zolnierczyk sent to Phantoms

Brayden Schenn had a lot of fun in the American Hockey League. Four goals, four assists in just four games. The Phantoms won three of those games, too, and now their leading scorer is headed for Philadelphia.

Schenn was called up today as the Flyers returned Harry Zolnierczyk, just called up yesterday, to Glens Falls. Also heading north will be Zac Rinaldo, despite receiving constant praise from Peter Laviolette over the last few weeks. If you're curious about the timing of these moves, don't be: Jody Shelley is now off suspension, as of the game last night.

    sweet.

I saw this on the bottom of the nhl network last night. I think that he'll do well.

I'm guessing he was called up solely on his dominance in the AHL?

    I'm excited for this

Hey was called up because he should have been on the Flyers roster, but due to rookie bonuses he had a chance of making it made him to expensive to keep up. By sending him down to the AHL it cut about 1.75 million off his cap hit, allowing him to be on the roster without going over the cap.

Yeah, ive been explaining this to people around my school who are supposedly huge Flyers fans when they start throwing temper tantrums when they hear he was sent down. It's pretty funny how quick the tantrums end. Also, i think he was a little dinged up (i heard shoulder injury) so i think that they also wanted to get him to %100.

Same here. Should put Obama on ignore and really he has an #Occupy Wall Street tag in his sig so that says enough about him IMO. 170 post mostly of the derp nature with 0 trades.

Was wondering why Schenn didn't start on the Flyers roster and your explanation makes perfect sense.

Cap issues, now with some bonuses unreachable his cap hit drops by about 1.75 million, so now he fits onto the team and under the cap.

I was surprised to see him sent down too - but this explains it nicely.... cap issues.
