A more profitable ebay strategy?
Hi,
I'm putting up roughly 1500 cards on Tuesday for 5 days so they will end on Sunday and I'm thinking of around 8:00pm CST. Unfortunately I'm expecting some more cards to come in on Thursday so I'm thinking of a 3 day auction for each of those so they will all end on Sunday. Sound good? Have you have success with a 3 day auction?
btw the cards on tuesday are low-mid end cards and the ones on thursday are mid-high rookies if that makes a differenceLast edited by howethegreat; 10-24-2011 at 12:12 AM.

only on HOT players high end cards! seems like mostly everything sits and doesnt get hits or bids until the closing minutes or sometimes hours.
Big ticket Stafford, Ryan, Lebron James items will get hits early and build for those days if the price is set low enough.
you can check out my cards at http://photobucket.com/oregonfb2010 and make offers if you see something you like! Tyring to push the legarrette Blount Exquisite auto and one of my Stafford Leaf Limited 4 color patch auto's rc

In my opinion 3 day aren't as good. 7 day are best from Sunday to Sunday. Starting the auction on Thursday doesn't get as much exposure. More people search for the what they want early in the week and either bid or add them to their watc list. By the time Thursday comes it is pretty much the weekend and a lot of people are busy doing other things.
I wish you luck! Ending 1500 cards on the same night will be a lot of work. the most I have ended one night was 240. It took me forever to get everything done!!

3 day auctions are fine on mid end. Most people will see the cards within the last day anyways. IMO, the cards i sell that are mid end get no bids untill the last few hours. Only advantage of 7 day auction is if someone is actually searching for your card, then it may have more views and watchers.

Can you say "profitable" and "ebay" in the same sentence nowadays?

As a buyer only on ebay, the strategy of everything ending on Sunday doesn't always work. I will buy any day of the week, but I find sundays too many auctions end and I am more likely to limit my pocket book to one or two items just because it's all in the same day, but if it ends on Monday without a thought I'm buying.
Feedback is over 1000 on ebay and have never sold/listed one item.

It has been my experience, following Lemieux and Lindros auctions, that more new auctions are listed on Sunday than on any other day. So, If you put yours up prior to that, you may get some early action and have less competition.

use a 10-day auction.. ends when you want it to, and gets the maximum number of eyes seeing your items?
