    Rynobooks Cubs Customs

I've been trying to come up with a design for an all-time Cubs roster set. This first attempt is loosely based on one of my favorite sets, the 2001 Greats of the Game. I thought I would try to find headshots and isolate them against an ivy background. I am overall happy with this design but have found more usable action shots than headshots which don't go with the ivy background.

    So now this new design.

Original photo was black and white. Player is colorized, background is slightly blurred and tinted blue. On one hand I think its too much blue, but I tried tinting the background red, making the border red, and not tinting the background at all but this one came out best, IMO. The font for the name is the font they use for the names on the backs of the jerseys.

I prefer simple and classic but not particularly fond of the bottom 1/4 of the card. Looking for ideas on sprucing that up without going crazy. My photoshop skills are limited but I'm open to ideas. Thanks.

That looks really good man, I like 'em!

Do you plan on having them sign the white area? If so that's probably a little small, and a lot of these older guy will sign up near their picture. I'm doing a All-Time Cubs custom set myself.

Also it looks blotchy in spots, are you making your cards in 300 PPI?

No, on those first ones, I'd rather they signed in the photo. On the original GOTG cards, it said Greats of the Game in script where I put Chicago Cubs. I was trying to stick closely to the original design and couldn't think of anything better to put there. In the newer design, I just pushed the blue down and elongated the player photo.

    Thanks for the feedback though!

Which ones look splotchy and where? I've been staring at them so long, I don't see it, haha. When I made them, I selected 300 DPI for my file but some of the original player photos were not.

I love them both, but if I were to send them out, I'd probably use the first as the design is a little lighter and sigs will show up nicer.

If you need any help on who to send to, just shout. I've received over 100 Cub alumni back TTM. Check out my site linked at the bottom.

Thanks. I think the second one was just a dark original photo of Willie Wilson. Here's the same card but with Al Nipper. This one is much lighter.

Still looking for ideas for tweaking the bottom of the card. Thanks!

I like them as they have a old school look to them!

    Thanks for all the feedback.

This is probably my finalized design for this set because its good for both action shots and head shots (basically whatever kind of photo I can find of a particular player). Its a has a few components from a couple different sources, including one of RockiesFan33's designs.

Also looking for feedback on the back I designed for the set. It has the basic information that's featured on most cards, Cubs specific statistics, and some highlights. What I like least is how I have the jersey # and position. I've tried different things but still not thrilled with it. Any ideas on changes in design or an effect I could use to tweak it?
