Where to get started?
Hi all. I'm kinda new to this and just have a general trading question. I am interested in trading mostly for base/common cards and don't know where to start. I have scanned and uploaded most of my collection to my Flikr account but don't know where to go next.
I do know that I want to trade for Tony Stewart and Ryan Newman base/common cards (Race used and Autos don't interest me). Does anyone out there trade base/common?

The first thing you need to do is get a checklist of what is proudced. that way you can keep a running track of what you have and what you need. Getting doubles is ok but getting four and five of the same can get to be a pain.
After you get your list just post I am looking for these cards.
trade what you can and sometimes you can buy lots of ebay and knock out a bunch of cards at once.
YOU can then trade the extras for cards you need.
Also not everyone wants to go through a photo album for traders so make alist of what you have available for trade also.
Collecting base and inserts can be easy until you get near the end. Some of the most common cards can then be the hardest to find.

Thanks for the info. Another question, where is a good place to get a checklist? Is there somewhere online that I can one or many?

If you don't want to pay the $6 a month to get a printable check list here is what I do:
First, I do a copy and paste of every card from beckett.com. I change the page view so it can do a view of 500.
Second, I’ll do a paste special and select the option for text into an excel spread sheet. Next expand all the columns out. On my spread sheet I’ll delete column A (it should have tags for SN, AU, MEM and -), column C (all the text should be blank or says “Login to View”, column D (the text should be Find in the Beckett Marketplace) and column E (it should be additional entries for Find in the Marketplace). I’ll now be left with the information on card and if it’s a serial number. I haven’t been able to figure out a way to clean up the serial numbers, so you’ll have to move those to a column by hand.
I'm sure there is an easier way to do this, but I haven't figured it out yet. Once you have your initial checklist made up, you only need to update the list when a new release comes out.

I was fooling around with making a checklist and I found a easier way to do it. Before I was using "firefox" to do the copy and paste. I was playing around with IE and it works much easier. For some reason IE doesn't copy the gif images like as it does in firefox. Copy and paste everything you want into notepad. Next replace "login to view" with nothing, just click replace all and now you have a nice checklist. The only thing I haven't figured out is how to delete the spaces in between each line at one time. Now you can copy and paste everything in the notepad file to either word or excel.
