Young Guns prices
How long do the inflated values usually last? I'd like to add some of the big rookies from this year, but I'd rather not pay $100 for RNH, $50 for Landeskog, $40 for Couturier, etc. So, I'm just trying to remember how long it usually takes before the return to reality.

It depends on the player. If one of the rookies tears up the league early on they could have some staying power as far as price goes. If not the prices will start dropping as soon as the market gets flooded with cards which could be as early as a few days to a week after the release of the set. Just keep an eye on the trends with the particular player you are trying to get and you'll probably get the price you want to pay eventually.

I'd at least wait until the end of this month into December when some of the other products start coming out. That should help even out the costs on some of the YG's/

When black diamond, spx, spgu comes out, that's usually the time things calm a little bit. Then when SPA comes out, that's when the ygs are at its 'normal' values (ie Stamkos YG $50, Hall YG $40, Tavares YG $40...) so maybe RNH 'calms down' to $50 at some point. The Canvas if they are anything like the pricing for the 20th anniversay, maybe should stablize at $65 to $80 at some point.
It's the exclusive /100 of RNH we should get. I mean if Hall's exclusive /100 is still $150, then RNH should be around that amount also. It's just crazy right now, with his regular YG going for $100 to $150 which doesn't make sense to me.
But if RNH is the next coming of Crosby or close to it, then I am completely wrong and you can just multiply every number by 1.5 times for RNH I've quoted.
Maybe being too analytical here but I don't think I'm far off. I mean Ovie YG ungraded still goes for $50-$60. Like to think RNH is in between Ovie and Crosby, which would value him higher than what Hall goes for these days but otherwise I'll project him to be valued like all the other YGs of the past 3 years of #1 draft pick YGs.

There will no shortage of supply and if you wait until the spring will be able to grab RNH for around $30-40 just like every big young gun in every other year.

well unless RNH is the next coming of crosby or gretzky. Hasn't that comparison been made before? RNH is like gretzky? I see some similarities except no one is ever going to score 200 points in a season ever again.

I think initially some of these prices might only stick around for a week and then many of the rookies will come down a little bit (how much it drops depends on the player). But typically it isn't for a few months that they really come down quite a bit. However, guys like RNH, I would expect to hover near the $80 range for a month or two and then $60 for a few more months just like previous top YGs.

Agree with previous posts. It usually takes a couple of months along with the release of other products until things settle. So if you have'em ... sell'em, if you need'em, wait. The "X" factor is always player performance. Basically, people are buying on high prices built on anticipation of possible greatness. Could happen, but a seller will still make more money on multiple sales up front.

Once more UD gets cracked and different product opened (especially when numbered RNH RC's become available, for example), supply will outstrip demand and prices will tumble. So I'll agree with most others: great time to sell Young Guns; wait to buy.
