    An idea for Expo

I thought of this yesterday as I was trying to find Decades autos. I have seen a similar approach at e-conferecnces.

What if some kind of online message board was set up for attendees and vendors that allowed attendees to post what they were looking for? Vendors could then respond if they were able to fulfill something from the attendee's list. It would also allow vendors to post anything they would like.

I love browsing and I don't think that would be eliminated, but I think both sides could benefit. Not sure about its feasability, just something I thought of while roaming the floor.

It was actually my comparison of the show with the use of sites like SCF and HI that made me think it's a good move. Shows are great, but I find online resources to just be so much more useful.

So if these sites work so well, why not use the same approach in combination with the live show?

There are a lot of sellers who don't use these sites. I really think it would benefit both sides.

The show itself has a webpage, but no message board: http://www.sportcardexpo.com/

As for your idea, a lot of people will go on an ad hoc basis with a couple things from friends and what-not, and I've had a friend shoot me a text message from the show about a card. It was in my hands 3 days later. So there is communication ongoing between traders at the Expo, it's just usually done through social media or more direct methods.

That said, I think this is an idea that can be incorporated on a larger-scale basis here at SCF. There's a few vendors at the show who are members here, and we always like to put together any opportunity we can for our members to meet up in real life and interact and talk hockey and hockey cards.
