Best base card designs (and cheap inserts)?

What do you think are the best looking base cards and cheap inserts? Don't just vote for classic/iconic sets like 1986-87 Fleer. I'm more interesting in 'hidden gem' sets, i.e. those that look great but won't cost you a small fortune to collect.

Here are some of my favourites.

    1995-96 E-XL

    1994-95 Emotion

    2007-08 Topps Echelon

    2000-01 SP Authentic Supremacy

    1998-99 Topps Gold Label

That 95-95 E-XL set is one of my favorites too. I like the 1993-94 Upper Deck SE card design. The Electric Court parallel set might be fun to collect.

I also like the 97-98 Ultra set.

I don't like the E-XL so much...the framing was always loose on the card...Emotion was a cool concept, some originality in that...
