98/99 StarQuest Gold
Hi.
Ive seen some interest for these here on the forum, one of Jagr just ended on EBay;

Shows that some 90s cards still are worth something. I was miles away from bidding on that card.

90s stuff can be funny. No the base, rookies, etc are not worth much anymore..... but there are a lot of inserts / parallels with low print runs that will sell for big bucks. bet a Jagr Totally Certified Mirror Platinum Gold would out sell that one :)

I was watching that too Christian, and I was only $30 short of paypal on bidding for it! Otherwise that baby was mine! I was going to pop a $250 in at the end to snag it, but the bids kept going up! :(
I know of one of the bidders, and he has an impressive Jagr collection, but he fell short at the end for this. He finished third.Searching for: Jagr, Palffy, Stumpel, and Boyd

It amazes me sometimes which insert sets from the 90s, and even some parallels, hold a ton of value. It's weird thinking it's numbered /100 and worth so much considering what some other sets numbered /100 are worth, but when you look at how much of this was released and how much still sits unopened it makes a little more sense.
It's funny that the 98-99 UD Choice Starquest Gold set gets so much attention considering it's an otherwise valueless set.

wow. You were actually in that race. I could maybe afford a corner or two of that card ;). I feel that hobby are running a little wild these days, people are overpaying for cards. A low budget collector as me dont stand a chance against big sharks. But I guess that means that I have to be clever and use a lot of time on this hobby, which I really like.
Hope everything is good with you, Brian. And that your PCs grows. Do you have the Palffy CvstW International Jersey Black?

Yeah /100 though doesnt mean much for this. This sounds rediculous but ive broken the 40 box barrier now since they showed up at wal mart for 8$ and havent hit one. 40 boxes over past 3 months and nothing gold and shiny for me. This product was so mass produced that even though there were 3000 total of these gold's, they were still 1 in every 15-20 cases apparently, and the trouble im having trying to find one, I believe it for sure
