Does it decrease a card's value if?
I'm a complete novice at baseball card collecting. Okay, I know nothing. I have a precious few, mostly Mets players (okay, kill me I'm a Mets fan) and my question is:
Does it decrease or increase the value of a card if the player autographed it? I was once told that it ruined the card, and then the value was just in the autograph itself, but I see from reading posts here that you folks have tons of autographed cards.
I also want to get rid of everything I own except for a few auto'd items that have sentimental value. If I put these things on ebay, should I group them in lots, or sell them one at a time for a couple of bucks (or a buck :new_all_c ) each?
Thanks!
Oh, and when exactly did Mike Piazza autograph values plummet? I collected a handful, some personally, in 1998 thru 2001 when he "wasn't signing anything", and now..... they're on ebay for 4 bucks? ™™™? Does he have writer's cramp now?

If they autograph a card in-person it will be close to worthless when trying to sell unless it's authenticated. There's so many fake autos out there people won't take a risk with in-person autos much anymore. I guess it's possible to find someone who's willing to buy it for a decent price but it will be a rare find. I'm guessing you know this but certified auto cards (auto'd, certified by the company and put into packs) are the ones that are worth something.
Generally you make more if you sell the good cards seperate. Some people will want just one perticular card... not the whole lot... so they won't bother with the lot but will gladly bid on the single. Also you get shipping for each card which adds up.
I have no clue on the Piazza autos.

Yeah ebay is the dangerous market for autographs. I tend to go card shows, trade nights, etc.
