Pretty sure like 9/10 of them are resealed from large breaks, if you can't sell an auto for 1 of a bender, they reseal it and sell the pack for solid money.

I've heard two variations..... and (my guess) both are true, depends on the ppl selling them, and how they do it.
Resealed packs, or pack searching.
If it's resealed, that one is easy. They put a 'hit' in there (whatever they gaurnetee) but it's not going to be a very good one.
Pack searching, they're trusting their methods to deliver on what they promise, but have probably alreayd gone deep enough into a case to know that all the really big hits are gone.
I wouldn't touch lose packs on eBay..... hot or otherwise.

I have been told by a person who bought hot packs that they've been re-sealed. Apparently you could see it at the top of each pack. It's also pretty much the only way to "guarantee" that you'll get an autograph in a pack of SPA. They're not thicker than other cards in the set, so how can a pack-searcher tell?
Don't buy "hot packs" on eBay - it's a waste of money.

I do not suggest buying hot packs. I've bought them before out of curiosity and was not impressed.
Several things work against you. Most packs are from retail product and usually contain lower quality cards to begin with. This is because hot pack sellers usually search through boxes at no-frills, large retail stores. Searching entails bending and manipulating the packs which sometimes damages the cards. Most packs are opened and any desirable cards are selectively harvested and replaced with lower-valued inserts.
If you still are interested in trying your hand at hot packs, keep this fact in mind as well. The consequences go much further than just swindling the buyer. Inventory is being selectively stolen and honest customers are defrauded when they unknowingly buy scavenged product.
It's a case of buyer beware. If it seems to good to be true, it probably is.

I purchased one a few weeks ago of artifacts 11/12 for $5.00 + $3.00 shipping.
pack was not resealed but it was a retail pack.
The cards I got were
Sam Gagner
Andrei Markov
Brandon Dubinsky
Brendan Shanahan
and for my jersey card Jonathan Quick purple jersey piece
would I buy another ? I don't think so was just for fun
I also think that if you have a digital scale that you can tell by the wheight of the pack
