Question about negs
I'm just curious on some opinions.
I had a deal with a member with a nice sized lot of cards he posted in a buy list. I emailed him to make sure he was still buying and said I would build the lot over the next few days. I also asked if that was ok and if he would still be buying. He said yes. I built the lot and emailed him the details. He replied and said he needed to wait another week for payday. I said that was perfectly fine by me. When I follow up a few weeks later, he said he is no longer buying online since some other member said he didn't receive a card that he sent him.
I know it's the buyers perrogative to buy, but I feel that we had a deal to complete. I'm not out any product but I am out time. It takes quite a bit of time to sort, count and list a 2000-3000 card lot. I also find it horribly ironic that said buyer is no longer dealing online due to getting ripped off, and then he turns around and rips me of my time and effort in building the lot. I know online deals are iffy, but as a fellow user that posts buy lists, I feel you if you agree to a deal you should follow through...it that just me?
Also, what are your thoughts on posting negs for that. Although I didn't run the trade through the trade manager.

Someone did that to me too. I spent hours sorting through cards looking for some base he wanted. Then he welched on the deal. And I had to spend hours more putting the cards back. So I know how it feels, bro.
I was not a mod at the time. But the advice I got from a mod was that since it was not in the Trade Mgr, you really can't give him a neg. If people were allowed to give negs for "potential trades", then we'd have a lot of problems here. So I just had to chalk it up to a learning experience & I put that guy on my 'ignore list'.

mess- it's a bunch on common RCs, white sox, commons, and various players that someone had on his buy list.
Lakers- I see what you are saying. In my mind it was a done deal...not a potential deal. I just didn't go through the trouble to run it through the trade manager. Lots of things going on and just skipped it.
I just find it horribly ironic that someone would rip someone else off just because he got ripped off. I would assume that someone that has been ripped would be less apt to do it to someone else. But that's just me. Now I have a box that I have to waste more time on to sort back down.

How did he rip you off? He took your time... whoopty doo. Unless you plan on dieing tomorrow you have the rest of you life to sort cards.
At best it deserves a neutral.

He agreed to a deal and I sorted the cards and counted them. Then he backed out. I suppose you have no problem with someone telling you they want a lot of cards and then not taking them after you spend time bulding a 2500 card lot? It's not like I typed up a list of 5-10 singles. I'm not sure what kind of sorting you do, but it takes quite a bit of time to sort and count cards.
Also, are you incapable of posting your opinion and not being an ™™™ about it? You wrote with quite the anger, when all I was asking for were opinions. I though that was one of the reasons of posting...having an exchange of opinions. I'm actually going to post a nuetral. As I mentioned above, it's not cut and dry a rip off. I do disagree that taking someones time is not a rip off. Time, or at least mine, is greatly valued.
and actually...I have no idea when I will die, but I'd rather die with this guys money rather than resorting the lot he stuck me with.
thanks for the input.

I can understand how you're feeling and that's why I never put cards on hold for people anymore or make lots for people (unless I've dealt with them a bajillion times). His excuse for not wanting the lot anymore is pretty dumb indeed, but there's nothing you can really do except grin and bear it on this one. Put a note on your tradepage saying "don't deal with this guy" would be the thing I would do personally and consider it a lesson learned, and be glad he just robbed you of your time and not more than that. Some people have been screwed alot worse on here.

I'm definately glad I still have the product. don't get me wrong.
I understand what you are saying about building lots, but that's what I do as a business. Most deals work out, but there are a few. You always get a few knuckleheads that buy things that they can't really afford and they don't relize it until the deal is ready to be done or is already done.

I'm not being an ™™™, but if you want to look at it that way be my guest. I'm just stating the truth... if you refuse to listen that's your problem. You still have your cards, he still has is money. It's not the end of the world. Just pray no one else does this to you.

kr580,
Where in the post did I ever say it was the end of the world...or even come close to saying as much? I was just asking for opinions and I actually thanked you for yours. And I don't pray.
