Hockey Card Question
Hello everyone,
I have a question regarding a card in 1997-98 Donruss, the base card of Dale Hawerchuk (# 36 in the set).
I pulled two of his cards in a box of Donruss, and I noticed that one of them said "1 of 500" on the back (a Press Proofs Gold card). Looking at the front of the card and seeing that it was no different than any other base in the set, I started looking at every card back to see if I missed any parallels... and I found another one numbered 1 of 500... of Dale Hawerchuk!
Are these cards error cards (meaning all Hawerchuk's base cards say "1 of 500") or does it mean that I actually pulled not one but two gold parallels of him (and not even a single of his base!) from the same box?
Any help regarding this topic would be greatly appreciated,
-Ethan

I feel like someone else posted about this a few months ago. You may want to try searching through the archives for a thread about this card. I think the conclusion was that all of the Hawerchuks had this error. There is one 1997-98 Donruss Hawerchuk for sale on checkoutmycards.com and it too is numbered 1 of 500.

It's possible that there were only 500 produced, but for whatever reason, they decided not to actually serial # them, and instead just stated that there was the limited run.
I've seen it with press proofs of some of those mid- late 90's sets.
