What do you think of NAXCOM?
It looks like a lot of dealers trying to buy $100 cards for $25, or trying to sell $25 cards for $100 (sometimes the same dealer buying low and selling high on a particular listing). No problem with that --- the pursuit of happiness and profits, and all that. But I wonder if those kind of listings, and there are a lot of them, discourage regular collectors from looking past all that to find what they want at the going rate or a bit less?
To me, "going rate" is somewhere near the recent closing prices on eBay. If it's a bit more on NAXCOM, that suits me because there are no scams and the escrow-type payment setup ensures that neither seller nor buyer can screw each other.
Other pluses include set shipping fees, and you can "set it and forget it" -- you are notified by email if your offer is accepted or your card is sold. (Just have to remember to remove your offer if you buy that card elsewhere, and to adjust your asking price as the market changes.)
A lot of attractive things about NAXCOM, but perhaps the most attractive one -- no listing fee -- means that it's packed to the rafters with dealers trying to catch newbies with prices that are 400% of the going rate, and trying to stock their inventory by offering 25%.
Aside from that, the only other real negs for a seller I can think of:
The % of the sale that you keep may be a little less than on eBay (where you can require check or MO and avoid PayPal's cut). On NAXCOM you can't avoid the "payment processing" fee, but on the other hand there is no up-front listing fee. In the end, about 88-95% goes in your pocket, depending on the sale price and how efficient you are with postage/insurance.The most profitable price range for sellers seems to be around $40-$60.Finally, you may have to wait quite awhile before your card sells -- because the dealer / collector ratio seems very high at this point.
Neg for a buyer: The set shipping fee can be high for cheap cards (NAXCOM requires a buyer to pay insurance on anything over $10, but the seller is free to pocket the insurance fee at his own risk). So you may pay $3.75 S&H on a $12.50 card. Sure that happens on eBay too, but many also charge $1.50 at that price point. NAXCOM sets the S&H -- which does include "buyer protection." If the card doesn't arrive or is damaged or misrepresented, you file a claim and the seller doesn't receive your cash.
Just wondered what people thought of the site, if they found what they wanted there and if it was a pleasant experience.

I had signed up a while back with naxcom when they were running the promotion of you get like 10 bucks or something like that when you sign up. I signed up and with in less than a week of signing up they took the money back before i could even use it. After that i figured forget that crap And never used it. If you are going to have a promotion that you get 10 bucks to sign up you should be able to use that money or at least have the time to find something to spend the 10 bucks before they take it back. It was like two or three days of singing up that they took it back and didn't even tell me. When i found something i liked i didn't have the money in my account and never could get there customer support at all. so after that i desided i just wasan't going to use naxcom.

The 12day gap in getting the money deposited your account, and the fee structure keep me from selling, even though there were some very good "Realized Price" sale examples on the CU board, it wasn't enough to make me bite. The site is a bit cluttered, almost overwhelming(Go ahead, Call me simple...lol).
To be fair:
It's seems to be set up very nice for buyers who do their homework, so if there are sellers in your price range it's GREAT ;)

ive never sold on naxcom but i have no problems from a buyers standpoint. I dont really waste my time reading or posting "buy" listings either. I do like to search the site for good buys. i also like the other aspects of naxcom like up coming shows. I have been to the trade show in hawaii and naxcom does a great job with it.

truffleshuffle, $10 in your Account
Truffleshuffle,
We were notified of your post regarding the $10 being removed from your account in only 1 week. When we ran those promotions, the money shouldn't have expired in less than 30 days and you should have received at least 2 notices that your free money was going to expire.
If you could email [email protected] with your Account # or Name on NAXCOM we will look into it. If in fact your money was pulled prematurely, we will put $25.00 into your account for our error.
We agree with you and you should have left NAXCOM if we pulled the money before you had a chance to spend it. Again, that is not the way the promotion was intended to work and if we made an error we will be more than willing to give you additional free money to spend on the site for our mistake.
Please let us know.
Thank you,
NAXCOM Customer Care

When you sell a card on NAXCOM for over $10.00, the buyer pays you insurance so that if they don't get the item, you are covered and can get your money back from the Post Office. If you choose not to insure it or have delivery confirmation then there is no way we would know if you actually sent the item out.
As far as our customer service being rude to you, well that is a different story. Unlike some others, we take customer service very seriously and it is imperative that all customers get treated with respect. We actually do get a lot of compliments, but unfortunately, you get one of the reps who is having a bad day and they don't treat you as you should have been treated.
Because you were not aware of the shipping rules and because of the way you were treated, please email [email protected] with your customer # and we will go ahead and reverse the transaction back to you.
We apologize for any bad feelings you have and hopefully you will be willing to give NAXCOM another opportunity.
Thank you,
NAXCOM Customer Care

Wow that was nice of them!!
I'm not sure how many transactions you had? Must have been alot for them to extend such an offer.
This also helps clarify a few questions with me as a seller, I was always concerned about the buyer having so much power.
PS- I'm mad about them not letting me "Spin the Wheel" at the national..I know I would have hit the $50!!!! I Joke. Thanks for the replies Naxcom!!

i waited almost a year to sign up , being in Canada.(I was so exicted about having another site i could sell my cards) Not Anymore. I havn't been on the site since i saw you had to list your Creditcard # so you could list cards for sale.(should be able to use Paypal to do this) No Offence but i put my Card on Ebay and that is the only place i will put it online.
