Paypal being held

I have recently started trading on SCF and have just received an email from Paypal telling me that they are holding my funds for up to 21 days. Why? I'm not so sure. It says that spikes in payments received/sent can be a reason...but wouldn't this happen to most everyone who uses Paypal here when they start? I'm just making sure this isn't uncommon. I have 100% eBay seller and buyer status as well...just upset that I have to go so long without Paypal funds, that's all.

Are you using gift payments frequently? If so, this may be something that would cause them to do such a thing.

I've sent two in the last week and received one using gift. Is that frequent enough?

It could be. I don't know their criteria, I just know that I have heard of people getting hit because of using gift payments too frequently.

They have held my money several times. I don't think they have set criteria really. I accept gift payments and send them regularly but have never had it held for that specific reason. Just call and ask them to remove it and they usually do.

I've had PayPal hold money before because of a drastic difference in monies coming in.. like if one month you only receive $10 total then the very next month you get in $2,000, they might hold the money.
