I use index cards to write my letters & has worked out pretty well so far. I always had the impression when i sent full letters on full sheets of paper that the athlete didnt want to waste there time reading that much so "if" they signed at all, Never got any inscriptions i asked for " HOF year, 5x pro bowl, ect.. but since switching to index card letters, i get more inscriptions on autographs & maybe about the same amount of returns so i dont know. Im sticking with index cards for now, seem to be working well for me.

Letters instead of an index is a must in my mind. I never send out a 20 word request in any way. My letter are always three paragraphs. The first is about the player and why I am an fan. The next is something about the sport they play. The third paragraph includes my auto request. With those who are a little tougher I make extra efforts with longer letters and envelopes that stick out more. Yes, I will use colored envelopes. I will make a small drawing on the outside of the envelope. I will write their stats or achievements on the outside of the envelope. I know that others will ask about fees. I have sent like 5-6 fees ever via TTM!
