Hi all, I am forever in the process of rooting through my collection and dumping the junk cards, mostly late 80s to early 90s that everyone knows will always be worthless due to over-production. In the last ten years I've given away more than a million cards to make room, and whenever I buy a big collection I box up all these cards with any non-baseball cards and put a local online ad (kijiji) for first come first served.

Today I had gathered up three 5000-count boxes, two 3200-count boxes and a dozen or so 800-count boxes for a total of over 30,000 cards. I had a reply within three minutes and a guy was at my home to pick them up within fifteen minutes.

When he arrived he was amazed at how many cards I was giving away until I showed him the rest of my collection which blew him away. The coolest part was, he didn't come empty handed. He gave me a 1981 Canada Cup hockey poster (with a young Wayne Gretzky and the rest of the stars of the day) and a lithograph of Bobby Baun (Maple Leafs star who scored the cup winning goal with a broken leg) just for giving the cards away. He then said he knew he had a Tony Larussa signed ball at home and thought my collection was the best place for it. He said he'd come by again later that evening and drop it off.

I was very doubtful but it was still nice to talk to this guy about baseball and collecting. I was pleasantly surprised when he stopped by about thirty minutes ago and dropped off an official Major League Baseball signed Tony Larussa. Have a look at the pic - it looks legit and is a really nice piece to add considering he just retired after winning the World Series.

After giving away cards at least five or six times a year for the last ten years, this is the first time anyone ever offered anything to me in return. I thought this was awesome and told him the next time I get some cards together I'd give him a call. What do you guys think?

Should anyone need it enough, I would consider trading or selling the ball, but I have no problem keeping it and may even get it authenticated. I think it's really exciting, what do you guys think?
