08-09 UD Black Possible Error?
Hello there.I had recently won an auction, and subsequently received a 08-09 UD Black Lustrous Materials /25 of Thomas Vanek. It was supposed to be an auto jersey (I knew it was not signed beforehand the seller had indicated it in the auction, I was just curious why it wasn't)
Now, is this an error throughout the set?Or did someone take off the auto sticker or scratch out the auto?Even without the auto, I paid ~$8 for it, and for a /25 card that's a price I can live with.
The card in question is this one

Thanks,

According to the SCF Inventory system, Vanek's card in the set was supposed to be autographed, so that is a weird quirk. The cards in the set were hard-signed so it could be a case of this card sitting in a shop's display case for the last couple years and the auto fading. Or, somehow an unsigned copy got packed out. Either way, cool find!
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

Sometime it can be a case where the player did not follow thru signing for what ever reason and the company decide to release the cards unsigned. But can't say it is the case. Like last year, Panini planed for a dual auto with Crosby and Crosby NEVER sign dual auto on the same card. So for these redemption, Panini gave the card unsigned and also made two cards of each players signed individually. So the person ended up with the Dual as planned but not signed and two single auto that were never planned in the production.
