New guy with a question

Okay, when i was younger i was a huge card collector. I stopped about 10 years ago and kinda forgot about my cards. I recently bought the house i grew up in and found a very large box in the basement storage. I have approx 50,000 cards. :new_shock Mostly from the mid 80's to the mid 90's. They are from NFL, MLB, or the NBA. I have tons of rookies, mostly from the NFL thru the early 90's. I have tons of Elway, Montana, Young, Aikman, E.Smith. Sanders, Farve; Bonds, Clemens, McGwire, Gwynn, Ryan; Kidd, Jordan, Pippen, Shaq, etc

My biggest question is: Where do i start??? Anyone or thing i should look for first??? I think i'm goin to join Beckett.com and start checking what some of these are worth. Thanks for any advice on the situation. A friend told me not to go to a dealer since they might possbily lie to me about certain cards value and try to lowball me. :new_puppy

I also got a autographed Nolan Ryan baseball, auto Troy AIkman card, a couple Aikman collectors plates, a 23k gold Super Bowl Champions card, a NFL sterling silver coin, etc. Where would you find values of stuff like this???
