Would you be satisfied with this UD replacement?
In Oct 2011 I bought a single pack of 09/10 UD Black Diamond and was very happy to see I pulled a JVR Ruby RC /100! My excitement fell off when I noticed the card was badly miscut on the top. I called UD and sent it in for a replacement and my replacment showed up today!
I thought I was going to get a JVR RC Ruby replacment but instead they sent me these.
2010-11 Black Diamond (all quad diamonds)
<><><><> #189 Jeff Carter
<><><><> #196 Mike Richards
<><><><> #200 Wayne Gretzky
I'm a little torn between the two, but I know quads diamonds are 1:12 so it's a bit nice. What's your thoughts?

I would be rather upset with that. Even though the values are probably similiar, I think that is a terrible replacement by UD. Just my opinion though

I think in the case of replacing a /100 card, it would be impossible, as all of them would be packed out on the initial shipments. I think they tried their best. It looks like they provided 2 x high Philly players from the series and a Gretzky. I am surprised they wouldn't have had an extra common quad of JVR though.
James.

It isnt too bad, but if you want a JVR Ruby, simply sell those 3 and buy the JVR in good condition. You shouldn't be too far off on values.

When I had a chance to talk to the UD guys about this issue at one of the meet and greets for the Toronto Expo I asked them about this very issue.
They said that they make a good amount of extra "blanks" of all the SP cards. These cards are not numbered, when a replacement card comes in they take then number from the card you send and stamp it on one of the replacement cards. They then destroy the damaged card. This way there are no extra cards on the market.
The problem is that if the card was damaged on a regular basis and they have a set amount of cards available they run out. That is when they start getting the replacements out. Not bad replacements but I would much rather a 1:1 replacement. I would contact them.

If they were replacing a card out of 100 in the earlier years, you would return your card and they would pull out that same card, not numbered, and then hand number it
out of a 100, as per UD, they would tell you anything just to have you buy more product, they really did a good this year, with all single colored GUed------------NOT.

I dont think that is too bad, at least they have you three quads and one being a Gretzky, ya cant really ever go wrong with a decent Gretz. If you bought a full box then it would def be more debatable but to turn one pack into a JVR ruby or three quads that included Gretzky, you won either way :)
