    Best era

What is the best era in NBA history?

I'm going with 1980-2002. Some of the best players in NBA history played during this era. Most are future HoFers. Compared to now, that era was hands down better skilled in both D and Off.

I think it should be divided by 2 eras (decades). I would go with the 90s, simply because the rivalries were really competitive and there were a lot of great teams. The style of play was a lot different, a hard foul then would now be considered a flagrant/ejection nowadays. I wouldn't say the defense was better though, teams were scoring points like crazy. I think the emphasis on zone defenses changed scoring stats in recent years.

It has to be the years from 1987 until 1991, approx. Best basketball ever seen, by far...

Has to be either the 60's with the Celtics dynasty, Oscar Robertson, and the best athlete ever to play ball in a young Wilt; or roughly 1986-1996 with all the talent pouring in every year.

The 1980's teams were more defense orientated ie. Pistons, whilst 90's was more a bit of both, whilst in the new millenium teams are totally offensive with little defense what so ever.................... so best era to me was 1990 to 1998 hands down.

Love the 90s. Just seemed more exciting and competitive. I was glued to the action because you never knew what was going to happen. It didn't seem staged, rules weren't created to help them score and superstars were superstars.......not sidekicks.

I would divide that in two as well. The 80's and 90's were both great, but they were two different styles of games. And in the late 80's, you can see the transition to a more physical league, which would also eventually become a faster league. I'm partial to the 90's since I became a fan then, but its hard to argue with Jordan.
