Question about sketch cards?
Hey everyone have been thinking about it alot lately. I think I would have the skill to make my own sketch cards and stuff and have a few questions...
Just wanted to know if you think I'd be able to sell them easily? Also what items are needed to be able to make them, certain type of card, pens/markers.
Any help greatly appreciated

This is just my .02 cents but I think its a good recreational idea but not for business. If your wanting to pass the time, or take pleasure in arts and crafts then by all means go for it! Don't expect to rake in the dough because art in itself does not sell well (unless your famous). As for the tools required, your local art supply store will have everything you need. Regular sports cards measure 2.5" X 3.5" so I would imagine you could cut out the dimensions out of some high quality card stock or a thick construction paper. Colored pencils and graphite sketch pencils would work well. Possibly oil pastels too. If you really go through with this, I'll even be your first customer :) Good luck.

Yeah I figured business wouldn't be good. I just love drawing and have a lot of free time right now. And I think I may try and pick some stuff up in the next week or so to draw some and try one to see how it goes. And if I do happen to do this I would love to make one for you.
I was also thinking about maybe trying to draw like actual photo also, goes in picture frame or something.
Only reason I am asking is because someone saw a few of my drawings and said that I should give it a try
Did these both for art-teacher said this one looks exactly like me haha

Than this is school hallway we had to do-this one was put into an art show

Also, wouldn't it pretty much just be like the same type thing as a pack filler?

That's a great idea! Try drawing something simple on the surface of one and if it works out then you can go ahead with it. You could even create a thread here on SCF asking for pack fillers, I'm sure someone could hook you up with some if you paid for postage. As for your drawings, they're great. I only wish I had the time and talent good artwork requires.

Alright I think I may give it a try. Seems pretty fun. And thank you! I actually got the art talent from my grandmother. We have tons of paintings/oil pastels/colored pencils around our house. Family portraits and what not

If you started making cards of athletes who people collect, then I'm sure a collector would give you a few bucks for it.

there is a guy on blowoutcards who sells sketch cards. He uses the topps "you Sketch it" cards. He is very good and sells his cards for 45$ + dollars. He has made a lot from it. Look him up. I think his real name is Nate Sprenkle. I did buy a card from him. It is a 1/1 Griffey card. You can see it here:
Blurry scan....dang scanner!

As you can see he is very good. Many people would drop about $40 on a card like this for there personal collection. What I would do, is draw about 15 or so cards of very famous ball players. Griffey, Mantle, Jeter,Arod, Strasburg, Clemente, etc.. and post them all up at once.
