ICE RC or CR Silhouette?
So I have saved a lot of money up and have paypal ready for my first huge RNH card. Whether I get it right away or wait a little is to be seen, but basically, I have money to go after either the RNH Ice RC /99 which should come out next week sometime or I could wait and get his Crown Royale Silhouette.
They are probably my two favorite rc's. (don't start the debate about ice not being rc's, cause they are imo). I love the silhouettes, more so than the cup even. So nice looking
They are very comparable in prices. The /99 silhouettes sell a little under the ice, but the patch /25 is pretty much right on the same price level as the ice /99's.
Taylor hall for example, his ice /99 usually sells for around $575, and his silhouette /99 sells for $400ish, but the patch goes much higher, probably higher than the ice.
I expect all 3 of these to come out blazing at around $400-800 depending on which one and I love them all.
I really think RNH is closest thing to crosby in the hobby. His cards will sell better then Hall and Seguin for example and as RNH keeps getting better, wins the Calder, soon probably wins the Art Ross and keeps the Oilers in the playoffs for many years to come, I think his cards just keep going up and up.
So with all that said, should I go for nugent hopkins ice /99 or his sihouette /99 or his patch silhouette /25???

Actually, if you look at both the Beckett online site and the "Holy Bible" giant guide, then you will see that the Ice cards from last year are indeed qualified as RC, and not XRC. Go wild with the Hopkins and go for the Ice, the possibility for resale is also generally higher on the Ice compared to the Crown Royale...just compare Taylor Hall with Taylor Hall from last year's stuff.

If you're keeping it for yourself, then don't worry about the resale. Worry about which one you will enjoy looking at for years to come. Too many people are worried about resale.
Get the Silhouettes /25, for sheer aesthetic appeal, you just can't beat it.

Go with the Crown RC (or patch variant) for sure!
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

If it was me, I'd take the Crown Royale...I'd rather have the autograph and jersey (or patch) than just a plain rookie if spending that much.

You will see RNH higher than Hall. IMO, I won't buy either when they come out. All of them are going to be overpriced. You will enjoy up until the summer and once the new rookie crop starts to show, you will lose motivation and sell it.

well it's def about resale, no way i would spend that much money for something to sit on a shelf to look at the rest of my life. haha. i mean let's be honest.
i do love the ice rc's though, but the silhouette patch is calling my name. and yeah i'll def have to monitor how much they are the first day, obviously they are going to be inflated, but it's going to go up as the kids career is surely going to be stellar imo.
there's always that ONE seller that puts it up right away for "buy it now" for a good price. i'll just have to keep a hawk eye out for one.

you know my answer!!!
Silhouettes for sure. I love the piece of the patch and the auto vs a picture on the acrylic. I like the ice as I have a few of them but I love the silhouettes.
This is why:

Oh, and for the record, I love spending hundreds on a single card and holding in to it...lol.
Happy new year!
